The modest title of the project belies its richness of lessons. The extant design of Gordon MacIntosh is treated as a memetic resource to inform the design response but in contemporary, and frankly, more architecturally inventive way.

Instead having the project ossified in conservation the solution became the synthesis of every imaginable concern.

This is a truly remarkable example of enabling a rich new lifestyle full of humour, playfulness, delight and yet with full recognition and respect of the memories embodied in the past, done with aplomb and merit.
