PREA WORKSHOP:
SUSTAINABLE AND ENERGY EFFICIENT BUILDING IN AFRICA
HELD UNDER THE AUSPICES OF PREA (PROMOTING RENEWABLE ENERGY AFRICA)
3 - 4 October 2006

PREA is an international co-operation project between African and European universities and the International Solar Energy Society (ISES). PREA aims to promote the wider use of renewable energy technologies in the urban environment of Africa in support of poverty reduction, improved living conditions and sustainable development. The project partners are: International Solar Energy Society, London Metropolitan University, Uganda Martyrs University, University of Athens, University of Dar es Salaam, University of Dortmund, University of La Rochelle and the University of the Witwatersrand.

Bryan Wallis, SAIA Director Practice and Education was invited to make a presentation on the introduction of CPD as this was considered relevant and one possible channel for dissemination of information to the BE professionals.

Several SAIA members attended and participated in the proceedings of the workshop. Gerry Joubert chaired one of the sessions on the first day and Dieter Holm presented two papers. The BP headquarters was featured in a presentation by Eric Noir. Daniel Irurah of Wits School of Architecture and Planning chaired a session and played a leading role in hosting the workshop.

This programme provides a valuable and relevant source for future CPD content.
