PREA
WORKSHOP:
SUSTAINABLE AND ENERGY EFFICIENT BUILDING IN AFRICA
HELD UNDER THE AUSPICES OF PREA (PROMOTING RENEWABLE ENERGY
AFRICA)
3 - 4 October 2006
PREA is an international co-operation project between African
and European universities and the International Solar Energy
Society (ISES). PREA aims to promote the wider use of renewable
energy technologies in the urban environment of Africa in support
of poverty reduction, improved living conditions and sustainable
development. The project partners are: International Solar Energy
Society, London Metropolitan University, Uganda Martyrs University,
University of Athens, University of Dar es Salaam, University
of Dortmund, University of La Rochelle and the University of
the Witwatersrand.
Bryan Wallis, SAIA Director Practice and Education was invited
to make a presentation on the introduction of CPD as this was
considered relevant and one possible channel for dissemination
of information to the BE professionals.
Several
SAIA members attended and participated in the proceedings
of the workshop. Gerry Joubert chaired one of the sessions
on the first day and Dieter Holm presented two papers. The
BP headquarters was featured in a presentation by Eric Noir.
Daniel Irurah of Wits School of Architecture and Planning
chaired a session and played a leading role in hosting the
workshop.
This programme provides a valuable and relevant source for
future CPD content.
