regions of SAIA
SAIA is a federation of nine regional institutes, united under one national constitution.
Your region is your first point of contact. Regions admit and serve members, collect membership fees, run local events, CPD and regional awards, and represent the profession in their province. National SAIA handles matters of national importance: policy and advocacy, engagement with regulators, national awards, standard agreements and international affiliations, in close collaboration with the regions.
How it works
-
Every member belongs to one assigned region, usually the one where they work. In Gauteng and the Eastern Cape, where two regions share a province, members choose.
-
Each region is an independent non-profit with its own constitution, consistent with SAIA’s.
-
Each region holds a seat on the SAIA Board, with votes in proportion to its architect members.
-
A portion of each regional fee funds the national Institute.
