The Gauteng Institute for Architecture (GIfA) remembers with deep sadness the passing of Architect Darren Elvis Bester-Compaan, in 2026.

Architect Bester-Compaan became a member of both GIfA and SAIA in 2015 and was a valued part of our architectural community. He worked with SCS Architects (Alberton), contributing to the architectural profession through his work and commitment to the industry.

His passing at such a young age is deeply saddening. GIfA and SAIA extend their heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, colleagues and all those who had the privilege of knowing and working with him.

We honour his memory and his contribution to the architectural profession. May his memory be a blessing, and may he rest in peace.
